ACCESS: Carr Street

OWNERSHIP & MUNICIPALITY: Public Land, City of Coburg. Lake Reserve.

SITE DESCRIPTION: The site is an alluvial terrace 4 metres above the level of the Merri Creek channel. The exposed and eroding edge of the terrace shows a higher level bedrock channel overlain by boulders and rounded stream-worn cobbles of basalt. These are enclosed by a alluvial silty deposit.

SIGNIFICANCE RATING: LOCAL

The site is a clear and safely accessible example of the internal structure of river terraces by the Merri Creek.

SITE SENSITIVITY, THREATS, POTENTIAL UTILISATION

CLASS 2. The sic is gradually eroding but this is the reason for the clear exposure of the terrace materials. The site should be left exposed as a geological site and not landscaped.
