Ever wanted to fly like a bird? You can now take a ‘Virtual tour’ using Google Earth which allows you to explore Galada Tamboore as if you were soaring above it like a Brown Falcon. In a few minutes you can virtually whiz up the gorge and soar above the grasslands seeing features that would take hours to see on foot. The virtual tour includes links to the results of Friends of Merri Creek’s birdwatching and includes other important information for you to plan a real-world visit .

Archives preservation study completed |
|
A consultant's study looking at how best to preserve MCMC's archives, including its nationally significant photo collection was completed in April. The report (pdf 1.4Mb) describes MCMC's archives, issues with their preservation, and makes a number of recommendations summarised below. The study was fully funded by a Community Heritage Grant, which also paid for the purchase of some archival storage materials.

MCMC assists bushfire relief |
|

MCMC is controlling weeds for the Kinglake Landcare Group as part of our donation to post-bushfire restoration. The works involve a round of Blackberry control, followed later in the year by control of woody weeds, such as Broom and Holly along the modestly named No.2 Creek (headwaters of Mountain Creek, part of the Goulburn catchment). We will follow this up next year, with Blackberry and woody weed control.
